What we collect and how we handle it

Last updated: September 23, 2022

The information in this privacy policy relates to the RadarAtlas Chrome Extension. For a separate privacy policy for the RadarAtlas blog, visit the link here.

On this page, RadarAtlas (I, our, my, we, the Extension) will lay out how data is handled and used when the User (you) interacts with the RadarAtlas Extension. Your data is yours. We do not store, collect, or farm any data that you enter in the Extension. We do not sell anything to anyone. It is important to note that we are not affiliated with any ADSB mapping websites such as ADSBExchange.com or ADSB.fi. Please see the Disclaimer page for more information.

Access & Installation

By installing the Extension, you are allowing RadarAtlas Extension to be added to your Chrome browser with the purpose of manipulating the user interface on ADSBexchange.com, ADSB.fi, or your local Tar1090 instance.

Website Content

As of version 8.3.27 (3/21/22) there are now hyperlinks in the RadarAtlas dashboard that, when followed, take the user in a new tab to the RadarAtlas Twitter account or the RadarAtlas.com blog depending on which link is clicked.

Location

We have implemented in the past a feature to set and zoom to a 'home' position on the map. This 'home' position is any given latitude/longitude that you set. We do not store any data from any user. This data is stored in Your browser's Local Storage and is accessible when You leave the site and come back. If your browser or Local Storage is cleared or reset, this feature will reset and that data will be lost and is unrecoverable. Note: this feature is not currently implemented.

User activity

Depending on what button you click on or text field you use in the Extension, UI elements and database data may appear or change.

Data Sources

We offer two sources of ownership/registrant data in the RadarAtlas extension. One of these comes from OpenSky and is an open source database. The other source is the FAA's NAARMO RVSM database. Both of these sources are downloadable to the general public and RadarAtlas reserves the right to edit and display modified versions of the either data source in the Extension. We make no obligation or promise that either version is displaying the latest data offered from either source.

Financial and payment information

This extension is free of charge for all features. There are currently no donation or paid options available.

We have a Quick Zoom feature that is a one line web form that asks you for a city name to be typed in and the map will zoom to that city. The data is not stored in any way on our end and should be considered single use.

Web Analytics Data

We use Google Analytics in the Google Chrome Webstore to idenfity install rate, uninstall rate, installs by country, and other installation data. Also, I utilize Google Analytics in the associated RadarAtlas.com blog where.

Local Storage and Saving Favorites

The Favorites feature in the extension takes multiple 6-character aircraft codes and makes them viewable on the map. We do not store any data from any user. This data is stored in your browser in Local Storage. If your browser is reset or cleared, this data will be lost and is unrecoverable.

Personal communications & Personally identifiable information

When you write in to us with a question or to report a bug, we keep that correspondence, including the email address, so that we have a history of past correspondences to reference if you reach out in the future. We have implemented a Twitter button that opens our Twitter page in a new tab. If you choose to follow us, we will have visibility into your Twitter account and we reserve the right to follow or not follow you back.

Information we do not collect

We don’t collect any characteristics of protected classifications including age, race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, or physical and mental abilities or disabilities. You may provide these data voluntarily, such as if you include a pronoun preference in your email signature when writing us for support issues.
